Stroke of Brilliance!!

FAB Gallery is pleased to host an installation by artist Jonathan David Brilliant. Brilliant’s site-specific installations encourage the viewer to explore their relationship with the visual world through the use of pre- and post consumer manufactured materials. His work is a synthesis of the southern craft based approach to object making and the late 1970s British method of art making. In addition to site specific installations, Brilliant works in video, photography, digital imaging and googles himself regularly. He currently lives and works in South Carolina with his wife Brooke and their cat Zero. The exhibition will be on view October 20 – November 1, 2008.

Arranged for Robbins

FAB Gallery is pleased to host an exhibition of artist Kathleen Robbins. The Art of Arranging Things explores familial obligation and our conflicted relationship with home. The photographs in this series weave together the artist’s own memories with those of her friends and family, combining a sense of personal history with a broader visual concept of the American South. The exhibition will be on view September 10 – October 15, 2008.

Kathleen Robbins is an assistant professor and head of the art studio area’s photography program at the University of South Carolina. Her work has been widely exhibited, including the 2006 Ping Yao International Photography Festival in Ping Yao, China. After receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2001 from the University of New Mexico, she taught at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, before joining the USC faculty in 2003.
