Orangeburg, SC -The Grid Comes Full Circle is a collection of works by students of Dr. Terry K. Hunter that span over thirty years of creative activity. Exhibited at two sites on the campus of South Carolina State University, this presentation accompanies Hunter’s mid career retrospective The Grid Turns The Corner, which is currently on display in the galleries of the I. P. Stanback Museum at S.C. State. The earliest works included in The Grid Comes Full Circle date back to 1978 and features examples from Hunter’s students at Felton Laboratory School as well as works by Hunter’s students from both S.C. State and Claflin Universities. Also included are works from students Dr. Hunter taught at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts. The most recent works will be displayed at the Fine Arts Building FAB Gallery on campus. This version of the exhibition includes mixed media works by participants in the summer studio institutes conducted by Dr. Hunter during the past three years.
The presentation of these exhibitions is the culmination of a two-year, three-state, seven-city tour and provides a clear view of Hunter’s growth as an artist and teacher. An opening reception for the exhibitions is scheduled Friday, February 18, at 5:30 in the Barbara Vaughn Auditorium at the Fine Arts Building on the S.C. State campus. This event will feature a visual narrative of Dr. Hunter’s career as well as a book signing which will follow immediately at the I.P. Stanback Museum. The exhibitions will be on display beginning January 31st and continue through March 31st.
These events are free and open to the public.
